The term hypnosis is derived from the Greek word Hypnos, meaning 'to sleep'. While this describes the outer appearance of a subject in hypnotic trance, internally, the mind is quite awake. In sleep the focal attention dissolves; in hypnosis it intensifies, creating a state of pointed awareness and control.
Subjects are often surprised at how natural this state feels; how thoroughly relaxing it is to quiet the outer mind while remaining conscious. Suspended in subconsciousness, current desires are viewed with clarity, and past events are recalled without anxiety or judgement. The mind awakens refreshed, and the body rejuevenated.
Hypnotherapy provides a foundation for using the mind with focused intent. Thoughts that support unease, habit, or ill health are isolated, and the attention is redirected to the desired image and behavior. Regression therapy is used to investigate the association of prior events to present experiences; whether these events lie in earlier years, before birth, or in lifetimes past.
Although the subconscious mind is often credited for results, it is the balanced interaction of brain, outer mind, and inner mind that produce remarkable outcomes. Each session is designed to engage the client's own observing intelligence in orchestrating this interaction, both during the session and after.
